Sean T. Carter – The Carter Law Group
Since founding The Carter Law Group, Sean T. Carter represents clients in a broad range of litigation disputes and transactional matters. He has negotiated complex settlement agreements, employment separation agreements and a wide variety of contracts in the physical fitness, literary and entertainment industries. He has also achieved several remarkable results for clients in litigation brought under the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990 and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967.
Prior to starting his own firm, Sean practiced complex litigation for internationally respected law firms in San Francisco, California, namely, SNR Denton and Baker & McKenzie. Specifically, he handled commercial and business litigation in state and federal court, administrative agency proceedings, and alternative dispute resolution in California and several other states.
The broad range of litigation matters Sean has addressed include Common Law Business Torts, the Sherman Antitrust Act, Americans With Disabilities Act, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Employee Retirement Income Security Act, California Business & Professions Code § 17200 et seq., and Intellectual Property Litigation.
As a law student, Sean was the President of the Black Law Students’ Association; he was awarded an NAACP Legal Defense Fund Honorable Earl Warren Scholarship and the Northwestern University School of Law Public Interest Fellowship, subsequently renamed the Professor Leonard S. Rubinowitz Public Interest Fellowship.
As a result of his fellowship award, Sean clerked within the National Office of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights in Washington, D.C. and the United States Attorneys’ Office, Northern District of California. He also served as an extern for the Honorable David H. Coar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
After graduating from law school, Sean completed a two-year judicial clerkship under the tutelage of the Honorable Chief Judge J.B. McDade of the United States District Court, Central District of Illinois.
Sean attributes his success as an attorney to the extraordinary education he received within the corridors and chambers of the United States District Court.
