Nathan H. Williams is the Partner for the Business and Creative Development practice of The Long Law Group, PC. With over fifteen years experience, Nathan is a seasoned corporate transactional attorney, specializing in entertainment.

He has represented major cable networks, production companies, non-profit organizations, entertainers, authors and entertainment professionals across a wide range of deals.

Nathan has extensive experience in structuring and negotiating agreements for: television/film distribution and production; licensing; financing; publishing; joint ventures; game and application development; music licensing; and, other complex transactions related to the entertainment industry.

Nathan takes a comprehensive approach to client representation with a focus on creative development. His experience as an award-winning filmmaker gives him a unique perspective and ability to relate to his clients, particularly with regard to project development and packaging.

His legal writing has been published in the New York Law Journal and the National Association of Social Worker’s Labor Journal. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Communications) and the George Washington University Law School where he was the president of the Student Bar Association, a Dean’s Fellow and the recipient of the GW Law Alumni Association Award for Outstanding Scholarship and Leadership.

Producing & Directing

Nathan is the executive producer and producer of the NAACP Image Award and GLAAD Award nominated film, Dirty Laundry (FOX/Codeblack), which won the awards for Best Picture and Best Actor (Loretta Devine) at the American Black Film Festival. He also produced: The Ski Trip (MTV Networks); My Model Looks Better Than Your Model; Leading Men; and, Leading Women (NAACP Image Award Nomination) (BET).

Nathan has directed, INSIDE: Black Culture as well as commercials for Isabella Fiore Handbags (starring Veronica Webb); Jumpstart (starring LL Cool J); and, the United States CDC’s “Testing Makes Us Stronger” campaign starring the Real Housewives of Atlanta. Love for Passion, which he wrote and directed, premiered to a sold out audience at the Manhattan Film Festival this spring.

Author & Featured Publications

Nathan has been featured in the New York Times, the LA Times, the Chicago Tribune’s Red Eye (Cover), New York Magazine, the New York Post, US Weekly, Star Magazine, Variety, the Hollywood Reporter, Black Enterprise, Crain’s, Ebony and Jet.

For nearly five years, Nathan wrote the popular Essence Magazine column, “The Girl’s Best Friend” where he gave love, relationship and spirit advice. His book, Inspiration: Profiles of Black Women Changing Our World (Abrams) was published in 2012.

In 2015, Nathan’s first novel, “The Ladies Who Lunch and Love,” was published.  Nathan is a contributing author to the book, For Colored Boys Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Still Not Enough, which won the 2012 American Library Association’s Stonewall Award for Non-Fiction Book of the Year and was nominated for a Lambda Literary Award.

Honors & Awards

In 2010, Nathan received the Thurgood Marshall College Fund’s Prestige Award for Excellence. He has also received the Legacy of Pride Award, the Good Life Award and the Social Excellence Award.

Nathan is an emeritus member of the board of directors of Harlem United Community AIDS Center, a mentor for the Fresh Air Fund’s College Connections Program and a national Writing Coach Coordinator for College Summit.

Nathan lives in Los Angeles & New York City. He is admitted to practice in New York.
